Teal Drones, a division of Red Cat holdings, Inc., has secured a $2.6 million contract to provide its Teal 2 small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) to the U.S. Defense Logistics Agency (DLA).
The company will supply 172 units of the Teal 2, along with spare components and training services. This acquisition was initiated by the U.S. Air Force Security Forces, tasked with safeguarding air force installations.
Launched in April, the Teal 2 incorporates state-of-the-art intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) technologies, enabling rapid details delivery and facilitating quicker, more informed decision-making by operators. The system supports multi-vehicle management and features advanced artificial intelligence functionalities.
Recognized by the U.S.Department of Defense as a Blue UAS, the Teal 2 is available for procurement via the federal government’s GSA Advantage platform. It is engineered to excel in nocturnal operations, branded as Dominate the Night™, and is the first sUAS to integrate Teledyne FLIR’s innovative Hadron 640R sensor, offering unparalleled thermal imaging resolution in a compact design.
“We are proud to provide the United States Air Force with the Teal 2 sUAS,” stated Jeff Thompson, CEO of Red Cat. “The extraordinary night-vision capabilities of the Teal 2 will significantly enhance the Air Force’s ability to secure airfields and bases during nighttime operations.”
Initial users of the Teal 2 include U.S. Customs and Border Protection, which has received 54 units, and the North Carolina Division of Emergency Management, which has acquired 10 units for the Civil Air Patrol’s North Carolina Wing.
