The U.S. Army has selected Aegis Power Systems, a provider of power electronics for unmanned aircraft and heavy-duty applications, to develop a high-power, high-density inverter solution.
The system will support the Hybrid Electric Powertrain, Power, and Propulsion Systems (HEPPS) program, an initiative focused on optimizing fuel economy and performance in military systems, including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft.
This initial ruggedization and characterization study will be used to lay the groundwork for a competitive and energy-dense solution to increase onboard electrical power, reduce thermal signatures, and support silent operations in austere environments.
The U.S. Army are set to benefit from the company’s expertise in rugged power electronics solutions for harsh environments, featuring high reliability, power density, EMI compliance, and compact size.

To date, this is the company’s fifth winning Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant proposal, all focused on supporting the energy resiliency of the U.S. military.
