Ukraine Enhances Naval Capabilities with Advanced Marine Robotics
The Ukrainian navy has recently integrated uncrewed Surface Vessels (USVs) from Maritime Robotics and Teledyne Marine to enhance their sensor data collection capabilities.
The Otter USV, developed by Maritime Robotics and outfitted with the Teledyne RESON SeaBAT T51-R multibeam echosounder, is now operational within the Ukrainian naval forces.
This unmanned vessel facilitates essential data gathering while ensuring the safety of personnel, as it operates without human crew members onboard.
By utilizing these advanced systems, the Ukrainian Navy can obtain detailed and precise facts about various marine environments. The data collected plays a vital role in bolstering national defense, improving maritime traffic safety, and protecting civilian populations in affected regions.
Strategic Importance of the Otter USV
The otter USV is a key component of a refined suite of autonomous technologies designed to assist military operations in mapping and securing maritime territories.

These USVs are remotely operated, allowing for the identification, localization, and safe neutralization of potential threats, including explosive devices and underwater mines. This capability substantially mitigates risks to human life while ensuring the safety of both military personnel and civilians.
Commitment to Safety and support
Eirik Hovstein,Vice President of defense & Security at Maritime robotics, expressed pride in their contributions, stating,“We are honored to provide solutions that enhance civilian safety in Ukraine while bolstering the capabilities of the Ukrainian Navy.”
“The technologies we deliver are specifically engineered to strengthen defense efforts and save lives. Maritime Robotics is fully aware of Ukraine’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens and communities, and we are dedicated to supporting their mission to create a secure surroundings.”
