SubC Imaging’s Lasers Achieve FDA Compliance for Enhanced Subsea Operations
SubC Imaging proudly announces that its MantaRay Mk2 parallel Lasers and Skate Mk2 Laser have received FDA compliance, paving the way for their distribution in the United States.
This achievement, initially reached last year, is now being highlighted to inform customers and stakeholders of its significance.
Advanced Technology for Subsea Applications
The MantaRay Mk2 Parallel Lasers are engineered specifically for remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and subsea systems, boasting a remarkable mean time between failures (MTBF) of over 40,000 hours. These lasers emit two parallel beams that manifest as green dots in captured images.
These green dots are crucial for providing precise distance and scale measurements of underwater objects. The choice of green light is strategic; it is the least absorbed wavelength in water, allowing for superior visibility and accuracy in underwater assessments.
Lightweight and easily integrable with subsea cameras, this Class 3R laser is indispensable for a variety of underwater tasks, including pipeline inspections and marine research initiatives.
Precision and Versatility with the Skate Mk2 Laser
The Skate Mk2 Laser, also classified as a Class 3R product, is tailored for high-precision subsea tasks that demand high-quality imaging references. Applications include 3D modeling, machine vision, pipeline inspections, and measurements of marine species.
Offering a range of beam patterns and angles, such as solid line beams or dotted grid patterns, the Skate Laser provides remarkable versatility and accuracy for diverse subsea applications.
Commitment to Safety and Quality
“Achieving FDA compliance underscores the safety, reliability, and performance of subc Imaging’s subsea lasers. It exemplifies our dedication to delivering superior imaging solutions that not only adhere to stringent regulatory requirements but also surpass our clients’ expectations,” stated Brent Lackey, Engineering Manager, P. Eng.
He further emphasized, “Without FDA compliance, our lasers cannot be shipped within the United States. Many in the industry may underestimate the importance of these standards for subsea lasers, but at SubC, we prioritize the highest levels of quality and safety.”
