HZO, recognized globally for its cutting-edge protective nanocoatings that shield electronics in extreme conditions, has developed and implemented controlled-gradient-thickness coatings to enhance transmission efficiency and ensure durability at cryogenic temperatures.

This advancement is notably critical for missions in harsh environments, such as the Balloon Experiment for Galactic infrared Science (BEGINS) and NASA’s recently selected Probe far-Infrared Mission for Astrophysics (PRIMA) concept study.

Parylene-C,a thermoplastic polymer renowned for its outstanding mechanical stability and minimal water absorption,was instrumental in achieving remarkable transmission levels in these filters. The findings indicate that the Parylene-coated LVBFs reached peak transmission rates of 80% to 90% at cryogenic temperatures (5 K), significantly outperforming non-coated counterparts.
