Innovative Advancements in UAV Technology: The CubePilot Ecosystem

HexAero and ProfiCNC, the collaborative minds behind the groundbreaking CubePilot hardware and software ecosystem for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and other unmanned systems, have teamed up with Unmanned Systems Technology (UST) to showcase their expertise. the ‘Gold’ profile emphasizes how CubePilot’s continuously advancing drone autopilot solutions and accessories cater to a diverse array of applications within the commercial and industrial UAV sectors.

Introducing the Cube Orange: A Cutting-Edge Autopilot solution

The Cube Orange stands out as a complex open-source autopilot designed for drones and robotic vehicles. Powered by an ARM Cortex M7 CPU alongside an M3 co-processor, this compact and lightweight device is equipped with triple-redundant, temperature-stabilized, and vibration-resistant inertial measurement units (IMUs). Its versatility makes it suitable for various unmanned systems, including fixed-wing and multirotor UAVs, unmanned ground vehicles (ugvs), unmanned surface vessels (USVs), and unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs).

Enhanced Safety Features with ADS-B Technology

Equipped with an ADS-B carrier board and an integrated uAvionix 1090 MHz receiver, the Cube Orange significantly boosts situational awareness. This ADS-B capability allows drones to gather information from nearby commercial aircraft, enhancing safety and facilitating effective detect-and-avoid (DAA) functionalities.

Versatile Flight Control Capabilities

The flight control system of the Cube Orange supports multiple operational modes, including waypoint navigation, loitering, and altitude maintenance. It features built-in flight logging and real-time data transmission, and is compatible with popular ground control station software such as Mission Planner and QGroundControl.

Customizable Integration for Diverse Applications

The Cube Orange autopilot can seamlessly connect to tailored carrier boards, enabling it to accommodate specific unmanned vehicle applications. It supports both Ardupilot and PX4 open-source flight controller firmware, providing adaptability for developers.

High-Precision Positioning with the Here3 GNSS Module

The Here3 module offers RTK-enabled GNSS capabilities, delivering centimeter-level positioning accuracy for drones and robotics. Built on the u-blox M8P GNSS chipset and an ARM Cortex CPU running a real-time operating system (RTOS), this lightweight module is housed in a dust- and water-resistant casing and includes an integrated magnetometer and compass.

Advanced drone Ground Control with herelink

The HereLink serves as a compact handheld ground controller for drones, providing smooth, low-latency HD video transmission over distances of up to 20 km. It supports video formats of 720p at 30 fps and 1080p at both 30 and 60 fps. The controller features detachable directional and omni-directional antennas, along with an integrated GPS antenna and an interface for external antennas.

This UAV flight controller combines a datalink unit, remote control link, and video display unit into a single device. With an eight-core processor and a robust GPU, it excels in rapid image, video, and data processing, and includes a MicroSD card slot for storage of up to 64 GB.

Built on customized Solex and QGC Ground Control Station software, the HereLink supports MAVLink for Ardupilot and PX4 open-source autopilot platforms. Users can install custom and OEM Android images, allowing for extensive customization of system configurations, applications, and boot animations. Additionally, the ground controller benefits from Over the Air (OTA) updates via Wi-Fi, streamlining the downloading and installation process while minimizing bandwidth usage.

Innovative Navigation with HereFlow

The HereFlow is a sophisticated navigation solution for drones, featuring a time-of-flight LiDAR sensor, an optical flow camera, and a six-degree-of-freedom IMU. Weighing just 1 gram, this ultra-low-SWaP board is perfect for enhancing UAV precision landings and navigating in GNSS-denied environments, such as indoor spaces, tunnels, and under bridges.

Conveniently installable at any node in a CAN bus, the HereFlow offers protection against signal noise, superior anti-interference capabilities, real-time operations, and high-performance error handling.
