YellowScan has detailed how its Mapper UAV LiDAR technology was utilized aboard a DPS6 drone during excavation efforts aimed at uncovering evidence of piracy in the Indian Ocean.

AIRD’ECO-Drone conducted micro-topographical surveys to locate artifacts potentially associated with the archaeological remnants of 17th and 18th-century pirates. This inquiry took place near Ambodifotatra Bay on the northeastern coast of Madagascar.

Employing the Mapper LiDAR system, the team successfully mapped the bay and created digital terrain models of the surrounding hills, facilitating the search for signs of habitation or structural remains.
