Teal Drones, a subsidiary of Red Cat Holdings, has secured a contract worth $1,046,806 to supply its advanced Golden eagle drones to the U.S. Border patrol.
In addition to the drones, Teal will deliver battery packs, chargers, propellers, gimbal-mounted cameras, carrying cases, and extensive operator training, wich includes ‘train-the-trainer’ programs.
this contract is part of a Blanket purchase Agreement (BPA) established between U.S. Customs and Border Protection and five drone manufacturers, announced in December 2021, with a projected total value of $90 million over five years. All drones included in this BPA are listed on the exclusive ‘Blue UAS’ registry, which is approved for procurement by the Department of Defence.
As stated by the company, the Golden Eagle drones will enhance airborne reconnaissance, surveillance, and tracking capabilities, thereby improving situational awareness for field commanders and agents in regions lacking traditional surveillance systems or manned air support.
“As a leader in military-grade drone technology, particularly for nighttime operations, we are eager to provide Teal’s Golden Eagle drones to the government personnel tasked with protecting American citizens and securing our borders,” remarked Jeff thompson, CEO of red Cat. “With our significant investment in a new manufacturing facility for Teal in Salt Lake City, we are confident in our ability to meet the delivery timelines for this important order, and also for future orders anticipated under this BPA with U.S. Customs and Border Protection.”
