Innovative Power Solutions for Drones: Vanguard’s Partnership with UST

Vanguard, a prominent name in the advancement of cutting-edge power adn propulsion technologies for drones and unmanned systems, has joined forces with Unmanned Systems Technology (UST) to showcase their capabilities. Their ‘Gold’ profile emphasizes the submission of advanced battery systems designed to energize robotic platforms across various domains, including UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles),UGVs (unmanned ground vehicles),and UUVs (unmanned underwater vehicles). Additionally, their UAV propulsion engines are tailored to fit a diverse array of drone platforms.

Rugged lithium-ion battery packVanguard’s lithium-ion battery packs are engineered to meet the demands of both commercial and military UAV, UGV, USV, and UUV applications, providing a flexible and efficient solution that can be customized to meet specific user needs.

Advanced Battery management Systems

The refined, fully integrated systems come equipped with an internal Battery Management System (BMS) that operates in harmony with a CANbus-controlled charger and communication network. The modular design of these battery packs allows for easy configuration to accommodate various capacities and voltages, enabling users to stack multiple batteries to achieve the desired power output.

Vanguard offers three primary configurations of their battery packs: 3.8 kWh, 5 kWh, and 10 kWh, each providing a multitude of advantages for drones and unmanned systems.

High-Performance Propulsion Engines

Vanguard V-Twin EFI engineVanguard’s V-Twin horizontal shaft petrol engines are available with outputs ranging from 17.2 to 29.9 gross kW (23 to 40 gross HP), making them suitable for various UAV and drone applications.

Utilizing advanced electronic fuel injection (EFI) technology, these engines automatically adjust their operating parameters by monitoring a range of onboard sensors. This capability allows for real-time adjustments in fuel and spark delivery, resulting in enhanced starting performance across all temperatures, smooth operation at varying altitudes, rapid response to load changes, and significantly improved fuel efficiency.

The latest addition to their engine lineup, a 29.9 gross kW (40.0 gross HP) model, incorporates cutting-edge electronic throttle control (ETC) technology. This feature enables the engine to swiftly detect RPM changes and respond immediately to environmental load variations, ensuring consistent power output and optimal engine speed for superior efficiency.
