Introducing the VN-360: A Revolutionary GPS-Compass Sensor by VectorNav Technologies

VectorNav Technologies, renowned for its cutting-edge inertial navigation systems, has unveiled the VN-360 GPS-Compass heading and position sensor. This innovative OEM GPS-Compass module offers a precise True North heading solution,catering to systems integrators in search of a dependable option to conventional magnetic sensors.

The Limitations of magnetic Sensors

Many existing systems rely heavily on digital magnetometers to determine the heading of both manned and unmanned platforms. However, platforms such as multirotor UAVs, ground robots, and satellite antennas often contain ferrous materials, motors, batteries, and electrical components that considerably hinder the accuracy and reliability of magnetometer-based heading solutions.The VN-360 presents a compact, cost-efficient GPS-based alternative that remains unaffected by magnetic interferences and fluctuations in the magnetic field.

Advanced technology for Enhanced Accuracy

Equipped with dual onboard GNSS receivers, the VN-360 computes the relative position between its two GNSS antennas, yielding a heading solution that surpasses the accuracy of conventional magnetic compasses by a ample margin. It accommodates various GNSS antennas that can be positioned on the host platform with a separation ranging from mere centimeters to several meters. This versatility allows for optimal configuration, ensuring that an accurate heading solution is typically available in under two minutes.
