VectorNav Technologies Unveils Innovative Tactical Embedded Inertial Systems

VectorNav Technologies has launched its latest Tactical Embedded series of inertial systems, which incorporate a tactical-grade Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) alongside multi-band GNSS-aided Inertial Navigation Systems (INS). Weighing a mere 15 grams, these new Tactical Embedded devices offer milliradian-level attitude precision adn centimeter-accurate positioning capabilities.

Enhanced Performance for Diverse Applications

The Tactical Embedded series boasts an notable size-to-performance ratio, making it ideal for reducing costs across various pointing and geo-referencing applications.These systems are particularly beneficial for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and other unmanned systems, including gimballed Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) payloads, SATCOM technologies, and high-accuracy LiDAR mapping and photogrammetry. Additionally, the Tactical Embedded sensors support external SAASM GPS, catering to defense applications in ISR, electronic warfare, munitions, and UAV navigation.

Engineered at VectorNav’s AS9100-certified facility in Dallas, Texas, the Tactical Embedded series includes:

  • VN-110E IMU/AHRS
  • VN-210E GNSS-Aided INS
  • VN-310E Dual Antenna GNSS/INS

Key Features of the Tactical Embedded Series

The Tactical Embedded range is packed with advanced features, including:

  • Heading accuracy of 0.05-0.1°, with pitch and roll accuracy of 0.015°
  • Horizontal position accuracy of 1 meter and vertical accuracy of 1.5 meters
  • Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) positioning accuracy of 1 centimeter
  • Gyro in-run bias of less than 1°/hr and accelerometer in-run bias of less than 10 μg
  • A 184-channel GNSS receiver supporting L1/L2/E1/E5b frequencies
  • Compatibility with external RTK, PPK, and SAASM GPS
  • High update rates of 800 Hz for IMU and 400 Hz for navigation
  • Compact dimensions of less than 15 grams, measuring 31 x 31 x 11 mm
  • Low power consumption of under 480 mA at 3.3 V
