Airmar Technology Corporation has announced that its SmartBoat solution has successfully received certification for OneNet, the latest iteration of the NMEA standard for marine data interfacing and networking.
SmartBoat by Airmar serves as a thorough vessel monitoring and control system, seamlessly integrating a variety of sensors and data sources to deliver real-time insights and automation for marine vessels. It stands out as the sole marine electronics solution that accommodates devices utilizing current, future, and legacy standards, including NMEA 0183, NMEA 2000, and OneNet.
OneNet leverages Ethernet technology, offering a more robust and rapid data exchange platform compared to the widely used NMEA 2000. Its benefits include simplified integration of marine electronics with both onboard and internet-based systems through IP networking, enhanced security features with encryption, and improved interoperability among various manufacturers’ marine electronics.
mark Reedenauer, President and Executive director of the National Marine electronics Association, remarked, “Airmar’s SmartBoat Solution exemplifies cutting-edge technology aimed at streamlining the management of onboard systems, enhancing navigation and safety, and enriching the overall boating experience. As the industry transitions to the OneNet standard, the advantages of more integrated, efficient, and refined marine systems will become increasingly evident.”
Jennifer Matsis, Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Airmar, emphasized, “Airmar has consistently supported NMEA standards. Being the first to achieve OneNet certification underscores our dedication to enhancing the capabilities of marine electronics.”
