In the fast-evolving realm of unmanned systems, effective ground control is essential. the Vision2 Ground Control Station (GCS) by Vantage Robotics is meticulously crafted to tackle these demands, providing a robust and versatile solution for UxS operators.
The Vision2 universal mobile GCS caters to a broad spectrum of unmanned systems, equipping operators wiht user-pleasant controls, exceptional performance, and reliability crucial for mission success.
Engineered to accommodate various user needs—from military and public safety to commercial sectors—the Vision2 presents a feature-rich platform within a compact and durable design.
Performance and Features
Vantage Robotics has developed the Vision2 specifically for outdoor use in diverse conditions. Unlike typical ground control stations that rely on standard tablet computers with dim screens, the Vision2 is a custom-built device featuring a 7-inch, 1080p display with a remarkable 2500 NIT brightness, ensuring clear visibility even under direct sunlight.
Operators enjoy the advantage of three two-axis analog sticks and 13 tactile buttons, including six that can be customized, allowing for precise and tailored control. The integrated 3-constellation GNSS (GPS, Galileo, Glonass) enhances critical functionalities such as return-to-pilot and follow-me modes. Powered by an octa-core AI-enabled Qualcomm QCS8250 processor, the Vision2 delivers 15 TOPS of AI computing power, facilitating advanced onboard processing. This processor also features a complex heterogeneous computing architecture paired with the Qualcomm® AI Engine, enabling efficient execution of complex AI tasks and on-device edge inferencing with minimal power consumption.
Additional highlights include a battery life of up to four hours, single-touch display and button locks, a multi-touch screen with haptic feedback, compatibility with night vision devices, native H.265 video decompression, 64GB of internal storage, and an integrated IMU and magnetometer.
The Vision2 GCS is equipped with various controls, including gimbal control, power and screen lock buttons, brightness and camera zoom adjustments, lanyard anchor points, and a USB-C port for charging and data transfer.
Lightweight and Durable Design
Weighing in at just 625 grams (without radio) and occupying less than 1000cc, the Vision2 is designed for easy transport. Its sealed magnesium casing boasts an IP55 ingress protection rating, an operational temperature range of -10°C to 50°C, and meets Mil-STD-810H drop test standards (5 ft with rubber grips). A rugged, waterproof hard case is included for secure and convenient transport.
Versatile Connectivity
The Vision2 incorporates a DoD-standard Swappable Radio Module (SRM), allowing compatibility with various radio systems, including Microhard, Persistent Systems, Doodle Labs, Domo Tactical, and Silvus.
This GCS supports the deployment of any Android 10 compatible application and can be modified as necessary. Currently, it is indeed compatible with a variety of software applications, such as:
- ATAK UAS Tool
- QGroundControl
- RAC2/WM
- Autonodyne Nexus
- DroneSense
Multiple video output options are available, including wireless and wired display casting via Wi-Fi, USB-C to HDMI, and IP to tactical networks. Operating on Android 10,the Vision2 allows users to run custom APKs as required. It also features WiFi 6E/Bluetooth 5.2, USB-C for charging and data transfer, optional LTE connectivity, and customizable color options.
Security is a priority, with AES-256 encryption, secure user authentication, a system wipe option after failed login attempts, and a DoD security-scan ready operating system.
