Extreme Engineering Solutions, Inc.(X-ES) has unveiled robust solid-State Drive (SSD) options designed for applications that demand long-term availability and a reliable supply chain. A standout feature of these high-capacity,high-performance storage solutions is their utilization of an FPGA-based storage controller. This innovation effectively mitigates end-of-life (EOL) and obsolescence challenges frequently enough linked to foreign-manufactured storage controllers,which might potentially be phased out before a system reaches production.

Enhanced Security Features
the Secure Self-Encrypting SSD (SED) offerings from X-ES are equipped with a complete array of security functionalities. The FPGA-based controller plays a crucial role in enabling security features specifically designed to meet the stringent requirements of military, aerospace, and governmental sectors. These features include continuous NIST-certified AES-256 XTS hardware encryption, hardware-based authentication, and rapid data clearing. moreover, the drives support advanced military sanitization protocols (zeroization) that comply with NSA, NISPOM, and various department of Defense (DoD) standards. When paired with X-ES SecureCOTS products, such as the 4th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-based 3U VPX XPedite7572, enhanced Anti-tamper (AT) capabilities can also be achieved.

X-ES’s SSD solutions leverage SLC NAND Flash technology along with advanced ECC protection to deliver exceptional reliability and performance. These products have undergone rigorous testing under the stringent conditions outlined in MIL-STD-810 and have been validated during the flight qualification of systems like the XPand4208. Additionally, X-ES’s SSDs can be integrated into the COTS XPand6200 series system, making it an ideal choice for a rugged, dependable, and SWaP-optimized network Attached storage (NAS) solution.

Diverse Product Offerings
for clients utilizing X-ES’s Intel® Core™ i7 or Freescale QorIQ-based Single Board Computer (SBC) solutions, X-ES offers the XPort6105 XMC and the upcoming 3U VPX XPort6174.Each of these SSD modules can deliver up to 512 GB of raw storage individually.When combined, they can provide a total of 1 TB of storage within a single 3U VPX slot. The XPort6173 model accommodates two standard 2.5″ SSDs, presenting another option for achieving up to 1 TB of storage in a single 3U VPX slot.

Additionally, X-ES features the XPort6193, a removable Line Replaceable Module (LRM) that supports up to 1 TB of raw storage. This compact and rugged module employs a 2.5″ SSD and a highly durable connector designed to withstand up to 100,000 mating cycles.The XPort6193 is compatible with X-ES’s XPand4200 and XPand6200 Series systems. Moreover, two XPort6193 modules can be housed within a single XPand6902 enclosure, a compact unit that serves as a removable memory bay extension for various systems, facilitating the integration of rugged and removable high-density storage across a wide range of military and aerospace applications.
