The XChange3031, developed by Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES), is a robust, conduction-cooled 3U VPX Ethernet switch engineered to facilitate high-speed embedded networking in military and aerospace applications.
XChange3031
Tailored for C4ISR and similar uses, this switch provides non-blocking,full wire-speed capabilities and can operate with Layer 2 switching or optional Layer 3 routing when connected to the XChange6300 Embedded Services Router utilizing Cisco IOS-XE®.
Versatile Port Configurations for Embedded Applications
The XChange3031 features an extensive array of port configurations, including a 40GBASE-KR4 Ethernet interface that can be divided into four 10GBASE-KR or four 1000BASE-X ports. Additionally, it includes six 10GBASE-KR ports that can be configured as 1000BASE-X, along with four 10GBASE-T ports and up to eight 1000BASE-T ports via the backplane. Further configurations can be achieved through mezzanine options.
When paired with the XChange6300, the system enhances its connectivity capabilities, offering one 2500BASE-X port, two 1000BASE-X ports from J16, and up to two 1000BASE-T ports from J14. A serial port is also accessible via J16 and routed to P1.
Thorough Protocol Support and Management capabilities
The XChange3031 is compatible with a wide variety of IEEE and IETF standards, such as VLAN tagging (802.1Q), link aggregation (LACP), multiple spanning tree protocols, port authentication (802.1x), mirroring, ACLs, IGMP, LLDP, and QoS. It supports both IPv4 and IPv6, accommodates jumbo frames up to 10 kB, and features IEEE 1588v2 obvious clocking for applications requiring precise timing.
Network management can be conducted via CLI or SNMP, with SSH capabilities for secure remote access. A 4 MB packet buffer enhances the handling of substantial data volumes, optimizing performance in high-bandwidth scenarios.
Engineered for Extreme Environments
Adhering to the 3U VPX form factor, the XChange3031 complies with X-ES Ruggedization Level 5 and meets VITA 48 REDI standards. It is available in 0.8 in. or 1.0 in. pitch and can optionally comply with VITA 48.2 type 1 Two-Level Maintenance. An optional XMC site is also available for mezzanine expansion.
This module supports VITA 46.11 tier 1 and Tier 2 IPMC for monitoring system health, depending on the configuration. Conformal coating is available to enhance environmental durability. Power requirements vary based on configuration and are tailored to the specific deployment surroundings.
X-ES also provides compatible advancement and breakout modules, including rear transition modules and rugged system platforms, to facilitate integration and testing.
